The Air Force Falcons baseball team defeated San Jose State 16-6 on April 25, breaking the program’s single-game doubles record at Erdle Field. The Falcons hit a total of 13 doubles, surpassing their previous records from 1988 and 2017, and coming within two of the NCAA single-game mark. Every player in the Air Force lineup recorded at least one double during the game.

The significance of this victory is underscored by both its impact on team morale and its place in school history. With this win, Air Force improved to an even overall record of 20-20 and maintained an undefeated streak at their home field.

Sophomore Wyatt Hanoian led the offense with a perfect day at the plate, going three-for-three with three doubles, three runs scored, and two runs batted in. Teammates Luke Elmore, Garrett Hutchins, and Landon Boyd each contributed three RBIs as well. In total, Air Force collected 21 hits during the game.

On the mound for Air Force, Ethan Dillinger started and pitched three innings before Marcus Downing took over to earn his sixth win of the season after delivering three scoreless innings in relief. Trey Rutledge closed out the final two innings.

San Jose State initially took a lead with a sacrifice fly but was quickly overtaken as Air Force responded throughout each inning with timely hitting and strong offensive production. Key moments included Boyd’s two-run triple in the second inning that put Air Force ahead for good after briefly trailing.

Looking ahead, Air Force will aim to complete a series sweep against San Jose State on Sunday at Erdle Field.
