Motorists in Pueblo should prepare for two weekend closures of US Highway 50B as the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and SEMA Construction work on drainage improvements at the Interstate 25 and US 50B Interchange. The project involves installing new pipes beneath US 50B, requiring closure of the highway in one direction at a time between I-25 and Hudson Avenue/Bonforte Boulevard.

The first closure will affect eastbound US 50B. According to CDOT, “Starting at 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12, through 7 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 14, motorists can expect a full closure of eastbound US 50B from I-25 to Hudson Avenue/Bonforte Boulevard for drainage installation.” During this period, there will be no access to eastbound US 50B from either southbound or northbound I-25 at the interchange.

Detours will be provided for affected drivers. Northbound I-25 traffic heading to US 50B will use the CO 47 off-ramp (Exit 101) and travel east on CO 47 to access US 50. Southbound I-25 travelers will use City Center Drive (Exit 98B), continue east on City Center Drive, go north on Chester Avenue, then travel east on East 4th Street (CO 96) to reach US 50.

For westbound closures between I-25 and Hudson Avenue/Bonforte Boulevard, detours are also outlined: those needing northbound I-25 will travel northeast on Bonforte Boulevard, north on Jerry Murphy Road, and west on CO 47; those heading southbound will go south on Hudson Avenue, west on East 4th Street (CO 96), north on Santa Fe Avenue, and east on East 13th Street (Exit 99B).

CDOT states that these closures are necessary “for the safety of the traveling public” as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements in the area.
