The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), working with Siete, Inc., will begin resurfacing and safety improvements on the Interstate 25c business loop north of Walsenburg in mid-November. The project area is located just west of mainline I-25, between Mile Point 2.3 at Pine Street and Mile Point 3.3.

The planned work includes widening road shoulders, adding turn lanes, and resurfacing the roadway. Additional construction will involve installing embankment, a concrete stormwater pipe, lighting, and a soil nail wall. CDOT expects these changes to improve driving conditions and increase safety for people traveling through the area. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2026.

Region Transportation Director Shane Ferguson said, “The I-25c business loop just north Walsenburg is heavily traveled by residents and tourists. These improvements provide safer business access and provide a smoother road surface.”
