The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) is seeking applicants for several open positions on advisory committees that help shape agricultural policy and programs across the state. The department encourages experts and community members with relevant backgrounds to apply online through the CDA website.

There are current vacancies on the Noxious Weed Advisory Committee, Pesticide Advisory Committee, Wild Horse Advisory Committee, Agricultural Water Quality Program Advisory Committee, and Hemp Advisory Committee. Each committee focuses on specific issues affecting agriculture in Colorado.

The Noxious Weed Advisory Committee is looking to fill four roles: a weed management professional, two resource or environmental specialists, and a public or private weed scientist. This committee meets quarterly to discuss weed management challenges and recommend solutions to the department. Members serve two-year terms, and nominations are due by December 24, 2025.

The Pesticide Advisory Committee seeks three new members representing registered limited commercial applicators, urban agriculture from the general public, and agricultural workers. The fifteen-member committee advises on pesticide regulation implementation and members are appointed for three-year terms. Applications must be submitted by December 31, 2025.

A newly formed Wild Horse Advisory Committee aims to fill all positions including representatives from advocacy organizations, ranching communities, local wild horse groups, as well as appointments from state agencies and tribal nations. The group will advise on wild horse management strategies in Colorado. Nominations are accepted until December 31, 2025.

The Agricultural Water Quality Program Advisory Committee has openings for general public representatives, an agricultural chemical supplier, municipal/stormwater representative, water resource professional, commercial pesticide applicator, green industry professionals, and six agricultural producers. Applications are being accepted until all seats are filled.

The Hemp Advisory Committee will have vacancies starting July 31, 2026 for positions including a cooperative farmer member, commercial farmer member, research institution representative and seed development specialist. This ten-member committee provides guidance on hemp regulation.

Additionally, the State Fair Board of Authority is seeking a resident from District 1 (Denver area counties) with experience in agriculture or fundraising to serve through November 2029. Applications should be submitted via the Governor’s Office of Boards and Commissions website.

Coloradans can also participate in broader statewide efforts such as the Colorado Human Trafficking Council—which has one CDA representative seat—and the Colorado Food Systems Advisory Council (COFSAC). COFSAC is accepting applications for seats expiring October 31, 2025 for those with expertise in food service programs or representing food wholesalers/retailers/distributors or SNAP program participants.

Individuals interested in these opportunities can find further details about each advisory group’s mission and application process through official state channels.
