The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), working with Elam Construction, has finished resurfacing and improving culverts along Colorado Highway 151, east of Ignacio. The project covered about 13 miles of rural roadway, stretching from the La Plata/Archuleta county line to Old Coal Mine Road, between mile points 12.8 and 26.

The work began on February 17, 2025. Crews are currently completing final punch list items in advance of the planned completion date of November 21. The improvements include a new asphalt road surface and fresh reflective paint striping on CO 151 between Ignacio and Chimney Rock National Monument.

According to CDOT, these upgrades were scheduled for completion just before the winter holiday season.
