Beginning Tuesday, September 9, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will conduct paving operations on Colorado Highway 159. The work is scheduled to last two days and will take place between San Luis and the Colorado-New Mexico state line.
According to CDOT, paving activities will start on Tuesday between Mile Points 2 and 4. On Wednesday, crews will move north to work between Mile Points 6 and 7. Motorists traveling through these areas should expect full stops and alternating traffic guided by pilot cars. Delays could last up to 15 minutes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
“Motorists entering the highway from a driveway or intersection must wait for a pilot car before proceeding with the flow of traffic,” stated CDOT.
Daytime work hours are set from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., September 9 through September 10.
Traffic impacts during this period include potential delays due to construction activity as crews complete necessary road improvements along this stretch of CO 159.
