The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on April 2 that it will start preventive maintenance work on Colorado Highway 115 near Penrose beginning Monday, April 6. The project, in partnership with Acme Concrete Paving, will focus on the stretch between Mile Point 14 and Mile Point 19.
The maintenance is expected to extend the life of the highway by replacing full and partial concrete pavement panels, repairing surface damage, sealing cracks, adding steel reinforcement, diamond grinding for a smoother surface, updating guardrails, and re-striping. According to the department’s announcement, these improvements aim to provide a smoother road and increase resistance to ruts and road damage.
During construction hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, traffic will be directed into the southbound lane in a single lane head-to-head configuration. Speed limits will be reduced through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in fall of 2026.
