The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on Mar. 27 that it will start the Interstate 70 Seibert–Stratton Roadway Improvements project in early April, with completion expected by October 2027 and a planned winter shutdown between October 2026 and April 2027.
The project aims to improve safety and extend the lifespan of roadways and bridges along I-70 east and west of Seibert (Mile Points 401 to 407) as well as Colorado Highway 57 in Stratton, between I-70 and US Highway 24. The improvements include replacing deteriorated concrete pavement, rehabilitating bridges, installing new overlays, upgrading guardrails, adding delineators, updating signage, and applying fresh pavement striping.
According to the official website, the Colorado Department of Transportation works to improve the quality of life for Colorado residents through integrated transportation solutions. The department also aims to deliver an effective multi-modal transportation system that safely transports people, goods and information while enhancing environmental standards in Colorado. Shoshana Lew is listed as executive director for the department according to its official website.
In addition to work on I-70 itself, crews will upgrade CO 57 within Stratton by milling and paving with a hot-mix asphalt overlay. Select curb and gutter sections will be reconstructed while new signage and striping are installed. On- and off-ramps at both Seibert and Stratton interchanges will also be resurfaced with intermittent ramp closures expected during paving operations.
Daytime work hours are scheduled Monday through Friday from half an hour before sunrise until half an hour after sunset; some weekend work may occur depending on weather or unforeseen delays.
As outlined on the official website, the Colorado Department of Transportation oversees transportation infrastructure across the state—including highways—and supports aviation as well as transit services.
