Colorado Lottery opens applications for 2026 Starburst Awards

The Colorado Lottery has announced that applications are now open for the 2026 Starburst Awards. The awards recognize recently completed projects in Colorado that have been supported by proceeds from the lottery.

According to the announcement, the Starburst Awards honor projects based on creativity, their impact on local communities, and their broader significance for the state. Eligible submissions can include a wide range of initiatives such as parks, playgrounds, recreation centers, outdoor education programs, land conservation efforts, trail improvements, open space acquisition, wildlife and natural resource preservation projects, public school enhancements, and other similar activities.

The application deadline is set for Friday, February 13, 2026. Interested parties or those wishing to nominate a project are encouraged to apply or share information about the awards with potential applicants.

“We encourage you to apply or share with someone who should apply! Help us show off the important work that preserves and enriches our amazing state,” said the Colorado Lottery in its statement.

Examples of previous projects mentioned include Julesburg School, Hanging Lake, Lewis Heritage Farms, Bear Creek Trail, and Arkansas River Levee Trail.
