The Colorado Lottery and the National Council on Problem Gambling are reminding shoppers that lottery games should only be given to adults. As holiday shopping increases, both organizations stress that scratch tickets and similar products are not suitable gifts for children or teenagers.

According to research, introducing gambling activities at a young age can increase the risk of developing gambling problems later in life. The Colorado Lottery encourages consumers to choose gifts that are appropriate for all ages and avoid giving lottery tickets to anyone under 18.

This year, the public is invited to participate in the Gift Responsibly Pledge. By signing this online pledge, individuals commit not to give lottery products as gifts to minors and agree to help spread awareness about responsible gifting. Those who sign up will also have a chance to win a Colorado Lottery swag pack.

“Let’s keep the holidays merry, bright, and safe for everyone. Take the pledge today and help keep lottery play fun and festive!” the organization stated.
