The Colorado Rapids will travel to play Los Angeles Football Club on April 22, beginning a double matchweek at BMO Stadium. The game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Mountain Time and will be available on Apple TV, Altitude Sports Radio, ColoradoRapids.com, and the team’s app.
This matchup follows the Rapids’ recent historic game against Inter Miami CF. The event marked the club’s 30th Anniversary Match at Empower Field at Mile High and drew an attendance of 75,824—making it the second-highest in Major League Soccer history. Only the July 2, 2023 contest between LA Galaxy and LAFC surpassed this figure with over 82,000 fans present. Saturday’s crowd also broke Colorado’s previous club attendance record of just over 60,000 set in July of 2001.
During that high-profile match against Inter Miami CF, Colorado came back from a two-goal deficit with quick goals from Rafael Navarro and Homegrown player Darren Yapi early in the second half. Despite tying the scoreline, Lionel Messi scored late to secure victory for Miami.
Navarro’s goal was his sixth this season—ranking him third among all players in Major League Soccer so far—and he now has ten total goal contributions (six goals and four assists). All ten have come within his last six appearances.
The Rapids have shown strong attacking form at home this year with twelve goals scored across three league matches while conceding only three times—a new club record for most goals through their first three home games of a season.
Looking ahead to Wednesday’s fixture, LAFC enters following two consecutive losses after starting their campaign unbeaten through six matches without conceding a goal. In those recent defeats against Portland and San Jose, LAFC allowed six total goals.
