The University of Denver women’s tennis team, ranked No. 66, advanced to the Summit League final after defeating Oral Roberts 4-0 in the semifinals at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on April 24.
This victory marks Denver’s sixth sweep of the season and secures its place in a 12th consecutive Summit League title match. The team has won the last 11 championships in a row.
In doubles play, seniors Claudia Martinez de Velasco and Louise Wikander secured a win at No. 2 doubles with a score of 6-2, extending their unbeaten streak to five matches. Zoe Adkins and Natálie Cinková clinched the doubles point for Denver at No. 3 with a dominant 6-1 performance. The No. 1 doubles match was left unfinished with Marley Lambert and Yunfei Cai leading midway through their set.
During singles competition, Denver claimed all six first sets quickly and clinched the dual after about seventy-five minutes of play. Wikander did not lose a game en route to her third career double bagel—and her first from the top singles position—while Cai earned another straight-set win at No. 5 singles for her ninth such result this season.
Cinková delivered the clinching point for Denver by winning her match at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-3), responding strongly after an early break against her opponent Cassie Cervantes.
Looking ahead, Denver will face North Dakota in the Summit League championship match on Saturday morning.
