A Los Angeles man, David Leroy Carver Jr., 47, has been charged with interfering with flight crew members and attendants following an incident on a Breeze Airways flight traveling from Norfolk, Virginia to Los Angeles, California on August 13, 2025. The flight was diverted to Grand Junction Regional Airport as a result of the disturbance.
According to the criminal complaint, Carver allegedly made inappropriate sexual comments and racial slurs toward a flight attendant during the flight. When another passenger intervened and asked him to stop, Carver threatened that passenger and threw chewing tobacco at their face. Another individual helped restrain Carver so that flight attendants could place him in zip tie restraints. During this process, Carver reportedly lunged at a flight attendant and injured her hand. He later freed himself from the restraints, removed his belt, and wrapped it around his knuckles in what was described as a threatening manner before being separated from the belt by crew members.
Carver appeared in federal court in Grand Junction on August 14 before United States Magistrate Judge Richard T. Gurley.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Grand Junction Police Department are investigating the case. Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Springer is prosecuting.
“The charge in the criminal complaint is an allegation. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”
