FOIA Request to Fort Lewis College regarding Public University FY 2024 Employee Salaries on December 5, 2025.

Centennial State News has submitted a formal request under the Colorado Open Records Act to Fort Lewis College. The request seeks comprehensive records of employee compensation for all individuals employed by the university during Fiscal Year 2024. This fiscal year is typically defined as spanning from September 2024 through July 2025, although variations in this definition may exist based on the university’s specific fiscal policies.

The requested records include various data fields such as the fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth (if not exempt), date of birth (if not exempt or limited to month/year), employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (including base pay and any additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly, stipend, bonus), and employment type (full-time or part-time). Centennial State News acknowledges that not all fields may be present in every record but requests that all responsive records be produced regardless. If any portion of a record is deemed exempt from disclosure, they request that non-exempt portions be released in redacted form.

As members of the media involved in news gathering and reporting to the public, Centennial State News emphasizes the importance of access to public records for transparency and accountability. They also seek a fee waiver due to their role in disseminating information.

Additionally, it is noted that the requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. This organization assists media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies using Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
