FOIA Request to Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office regarding 2023 arrest records on September 24, 2025.

The Centennial State News has submitted a formal request under the Colorado Open Records Act to the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office. The request seeks comprehensive data on all arrest records from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023. The requested information includes detailed data points such as the arrestee’s name, sex, race, age, date of birth, and citizenship status. Additionally, it requests booking IDs, dates of arrest, booking photos, names of arresting officers, types of crimes committed, locations of crimes, and dates of crimes.

This request is part of our ongoing efforts to provide accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As members of the media and affiliates with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit organization dedicated to transparency in government—we emphasize the importance of access to public records for holding public institutions accountable. We have also requested a fee waiver given our role in disseminating information to the public.
