FOIA Request to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office regarding number of applications and tracking on August 14, 2025.

On August 14, 2025, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office by Centennial State News. The request seeks specific records under the Colorado Open Records Act § 24-72-201 et seq., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.

The request specifically asks for two types of information: first, the number of job applications received by the Sheriff’s Office categorized by week, month, or year; and second, details about the department or individual responsible for tracking these application numbers. This information is sought to enhance transparency and accountability within public institutions.

Centennial State News emphasizes its role as a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs. As such, they have requested a fee waiver based on their status as media professionals involved in gathering and disseminating news to the public. The requestor is also affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that aids media companies and advocacy groups in investigating government actions through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
