FOIA Request to Moffat County Sheriff’s Office regarding 2023 arrest records on September 24, 2025.

On September 24, 2025, Centennial State News submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado. The request seeks comprehensive data on all arrest records from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023. The information requested includes several specific data points: the name, sex, race, age, date of birth, and citizenship of the arrestee; booking ID; date of arrest; booking photo; names of arresting officers; type and location of crime; and date of crime.

The request emphasizes the importance of access to public records for media professionals who are tasked with holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. Centennial State News has also requested a fee waiver due to its role as a media organization disseminating information to the public.

Additionally, the requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that aids media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
