The City of Grand Junction announced on April 17 several upcoming road closures and travel restrictions affecting local drivers and pedestrians during the week of April 20.
These projects are expected to impact travel throughout the city as crews work on various improvements. The city urges residents to be aware of detours, lane shifts, and sidewalk closures in affected areas.
Among the major projects, Four Canyons Parkway will see a closure on 25 Road from Blichmann to Waite Avenue until early May. Additionally, 24 Âľ Road will be closed from Apex Avenue to northbound traffic with a temporary roadway in place. Detours will guide drivers around these construction zones.
D ½ Road capacity improvements will result in a closure between 29 and 30 Roads. Access from San Juan to D ½ Road will also be closed, with only local traffic permitted through the area. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes such as taking 29½ Road south to D Road.
Pedestrians using Patterson Road at Matchett Park should note that the sidewalk along the north side between 28ÂĽ and 28Âľ Roads will be closed for the remainder of this project. Lane shifts are expected starting Monday, so alternate routes may be necessary for both vehicles and pedestrians.
Other notable changes include a closure on South Broadway at the intersection with 23rd Road due to roundabout construction; detours will direct motorists accordingly.
Non-city projects led by Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) continue as well. I-70B Phase 7 construction means single-lane operation on Fifth Street between South Avenue and Colorado Avenue all week, plus lane reductions or shoulder closures along Ute and Pitkin Avenues between Third and Sixth Streets. Ute Avenue closures remain ongoing while Fourth Street is reduced to one lane between Colorado and Pitkin Avenues; however, access for businesses and residents stays open throughout construction periods.
On CO Highway 340’s eastbound bridge, CDOT resurfacing work brings single right-lane closures weekdays from seven in the morning until seven at night.
