University of Denver sophomore goalie Grayson Manning was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, according to an April 27 announcement from the conference office. Manning earned this recognition after making 15 saves and allowing nine goals in Denver’s 10-9 win over Marquette at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
This is Manning’s sixth weekly honor of the season and his seventh since joining the Pioneers. He has been nominated for the Tewaaraton Award in 2026, reflecting his strong performance throughout the year.
Manning has finished with a save percentage of 60% or higher in eight out of thirteen games this season. He currently leads all college goalies nationally with a save percentage of 61.6%. Additionally, he ranks eighth in goals against average and fifth in saves per game. Opponents have managed to score double-digit goals against him only three times during this campaign.
Looking ahead, Denver will travel to Providence for the BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Championship later this week. The Pioneers are scheduled to face Georgetown in Thursday’s first semifinal, with play beginning at 2:30 p.m. Mountain Time.
