To facilitate ongoing work on the Interstate 25 and US Highway 50B Interchange project in Pueblo, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and contractor SEMA Construction will implement overnight closures of I-25. These closures are necessary for the demolition of the existing US 50B bridge over I-25. Access at the interchange remains limited to only northbound I-25 on- and off-ramps until significant portions of the project are completed. CDOT advises motorists to use CO 47 when accessing US 50B and I-25.

“Removal of the US 50B bridge over I-25 is integral to advancing the I-25/US 50B interchange project,” said Shane Ferguson, CDOT Regional Transportation Director. “The closures are required to ensure the safety of work crews and the traveling public.”

Starting November 7, drivers will face nightly closures in both directions at Exit 100A on I-25 through Pueblo. Detours will be established during these periods, and schedules may change depending on weather conditions. If weather delays occur, closure dates may move to November 10 through November 14.

For southbound travelers, detours will route traffic from Colorado Highway 47 (Exit 101) onto CO 96, then via Santa Fe Avenue and 13th Street (Exit 99B) back to southbound I-25. The southbound ramps at 29th Street will be closed, with signed detours provided for those needing access.

Northbound motorists should exit onto eastbound US 50B (Exit 100A), then take CO 47 (Exit 318) to return to northbound I-25.

Construction began in December 2024 on this $114 million project that aims to improve traffic flow by constructing five new bridges as well as retaining walls, noise barriers, reconstructed roadways and ramps, embankment stabilization, safety upgrades, drainage improvements, and erosion control measures. The finished interchange will be located just north of its current position and operate as a diverging diamond interchange—a design intended to enhance drivability and increase safety for all users. Completion is expected by early summer of 2027.
