Overnight closures are scheduled for Interstate 25 at Colorado Highway 7 next week as part of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) ongoing Interim Mobility Hub project. The closures will allow crews to install concrete girders for a new pedestrian bridge.

According to CDOT, northbound I-25 at CO 7 will close overnight on Monday, Dec. 8 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and southbound I-25 at CO 7 will close during the same hours on Tuesday, Dec. 9. A single lane closure will begin at 8 p.m., followed by a double lane closure at 9 p.m., with full closure starting at 11 p.m. Traffic will be detoured using the CO 7 exit and entrance ramps (Exit 229). Delays are expected, and traffic control personnel will be present to manage flow and safety on the ramps and CO 7. All lanes are set to reopen by 5 a.m.

If weather conditions prevent work as planned, the closures may be rescheduled for Dec. 10 and Dec. 11.

A statement from CDOT said: “Closing I-25 at night allows the work zone to be expanded for the construction team and allows the traveling public to safely travel through the area.”

The girder installation marks a significant step in a project that began in March this year. Key elements include building a Park-and-Ride lot in the southeast quadrant of the interchange, constructing Bustang slip ramps, adding a pedestrian bridge over I-25, and installing a permanent water quality pond. The mobility hub aims to improve regional connectivity, provide more reliable transportation options, and reduce travel times.

Project completion is anticipated in fall of next year.
