The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on April 1 that the planned full overnight closure of northbound Interstate 25 at Garden of the Gods Road in Colorado Springs has been postponed from April 3 to April 10. The delay affects scheduled bridge deck repairs and the removal and replacement of expansion devices at this location.
This closure is necessary for public safety while crews complete critical maintenance work on the bridge, according to officials. The updated schedule states that northbound I-25 will be fully closed from 10 p.m. Friday, April 10, until 4 a.m. Saturday, April 11. Additional closures are tentatively planned for the following nights: Saturday, April 11 through Sunday morning, and Sunday night through Monday morning.
The Fillmore Street on-ramp to northbound I-25 will also be closed continuously from late Friday evening until early Monday morning during this period. Motorists are advised that detour routes will be clearly marked and should expect lane reductions starting as early as 7 p.m., with two lanes reopening by early morning hours each day.
Further closures related to these repairs are anticipated later in April and May for both directions of I-25 at Garden of the Gods Road. Advance notice will be provided before these additional closures take place.
