Northern Colorado announced on Apr. 24 the addition of guard Chiante Tramble to its men’s basketball program for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
The announcement is significant as Tramble brings experience from both the University of Southern Mississippi and Independence Community College, potentially filling key roles left by graduating players.
Tramble, a 6-foot-2 guard from Edmond, Oklahoma, played last season with Southern Mississippi, where he averaged 3.6 points and 1.1 assists per game. He also demonstrated strong shooting skills, making 78 percent of his free throws and hitting 36 percent from three-point range. Before that, at Independence Community College in Kansas, Tramble started all games during his freshman year and was recognized as one of the top junior college players in the country. He averaged 23.3 points per game on nearly 46 percent shooting while contributing almost four rebounds per game along with over four assists and more than one steal per contest.
Head Coach Steve Smiley said, “We are so excited to get the commitment from Chiante Tramble to join our program for the 26-27 season. Chiante is exactly what we were looking for in our final perimeter spot for this roster. An experienced physical guard with the ability to knock down shots and score from all three levels… He will fit in perfectly with our other perimeter players and will help fill the void with the graduation of some of our great guards from last year, such as Quinn Denker and Zach Bloch! Finally, his personality and confidence will be a great fit our team! UNC, Greeley, and all of Northern Colorado will really enjoy Chiante next year with the Bears.”
Paul Harvey, Program Director and AAU Coach who worked with Tramble previously said: “Chiante is a high-level competitor who impacts the game in multiple ways. His basketball IQ stands out. He reads situations well and consistently puts himself and his teammates in positions to succeed… earning the trust of coaches and teammates alike.”
As Northern Colorado prepares for next season following departures among its backcourt players, observers may look to see how quickly Tramble adapts within his new team environment.
