Northern Colorado softball secured an 8-7 victory over Weber State on Apr. 25, finishing the regular season with a series sweep at Gloria Rodriguez Field.
The win concluded the Bears’ home schedule with an 11-10 record and provided momentum heading into postseason play. The game saw Northern Colorado overcome an early six-run deficit, showcasing resilience as they rallied from a 7-1 disadvantage after two innings.
Amailee Morales sparked the comeback in the third inning with a three-run home run, helping to narrow the gap. The Bears scored four runs in that frame and tied the game in the fourth when Ella Gonzales hit a two-RBI double. Jazzy Longo then delivered a solo home run in the fifth inning, giving Northern Colorado its first lead of the contest at 8-7.
Pitcher Anna Wilming played a key role by throwing five shutout innings in relief to secure the win for her team. Offensively, Morales finished with three runs batted in while Gonzales went three-for-three at bat, including two doubles and two RBI’s. Both teams recorded eleven hits each during the game.
The Bears now look ahead to postseason competition at Miller Ranch Stadium in Pocatello, Idaho, where tournament play begins Monday, May 4 and continues through Thursday, May 7.
