The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on April 15 that southbound Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs will experience lane and full closures between Fillmore Street and Garden of the Gods Road from April 16 through April 19. These closures are planned to ensure safety for drivers and construction crews during roadway repairs.

The work includes overnight lane closures starting Thursday, April 16, when the left and middle lanes will be closed as crews cut into pavement for repairs. On Friday, April 17, bridge deck repairs and replacement of expansion devices on both ends of the bridge are scheduled. Additional work will continue Sunday, April 19, with a traffic shift to facilitate further construction behind barriers.

Full closure of southbound I-25 at Garden of the Gods Road is set for two periods: from 10 p.m. Friday, April 17 to 4 a.m. Saturday, April 18; and again from 10 p.m. Sunday, April 19 to 4 a.m. Monday, April 20. Detour routes will direct motorists off at Exit 146 onto Garden of the Gods Road westbound before reconnecting with I-25 via Centennial Boulevard past Fillmore Street.

Future overnight closures are also anticipated: northbound I-25 at Garden of the Gods Road on May 1 and southbound I-25 at the same location on May 8. The department said advance notice will be provided ahead of these activities.
