Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment issued the following announcement on Sept. 28.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued an ACTION DAY ALERT at 4PM on Sunday, September 27, 2020 for the Front Range Urban Corridor from Douglas County north to Larimer and Weld counties, including the Denver-Boulder area, Fort Collins and Greeley.
Though conditions have improved drastically in many areas, wildfire smoke from several fires in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming is expected to continue to increase fine particulate concentrations at times in the Front Range region. The greatest impacts from this smoke are expected to remain in the northern Colorado Front Range and adjacent lower foothills, including locations in the Denver Metro area, Ft. Collins, and Greeley. Due to the nature of wildfire behavior and smoke production and transport, concentrations of fine particulates may vary greatly at times throughout the Front Range region.
This Particulates Action Day Alert remain in effect until at least 4 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2020.
At 7PM (MST), Sunday, 9/27/2020 the highest AQI value was 113 for Particulate less than 2.5 micrometers which indicates Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups air quality. Increasing likelihood of respiratory symptoms in sensitive individuals, aggravation of heart or lung disease and premature mortality in people with cardiopulmonary disease and older adults. People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion.
