Lafayette issued the following announcement on Dec. 28.
As part of the 2021 budget process, City Council approved a 5% increase for monthly Water Reclamation Service Fees which will result in an approximate increase of $1.40/month for typical single family customers.
This necessary increase will fund improvements to our treatment facility in order to meet State requirements to reduce Nitrogen and Phosphorous discharges into Coal Creek. The total anticipated cost for this project is $27 million and will be funded through bond issuances repayable over the next 20 years. Water and Stormwater Rates were set in prior years to also increase in 2021 by 5%.
The total billing impact for all three utilities will be approximately $3.50/month for the typical customer. This figure may vary during summer months depending on individual outdoor water use.
