A Broomfield resident said she'll be voting for Tim Reichert, a Republican, to fill Colorado's 7th Congressional District seat in the primary next month because of his plans to build up the middle class.
Denise Welder, a Parishioner at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Broomfield, fully supports Reichert.
"Reichert has a plan to strengthen the middle class," Welder said. "He's a business owner. He loves Colorado, and he's a proud American. Colorado needs Tim Reichert!"
According to his campaign website, Reichert is a businessman and an economist with a plan to restore the middle class. He wants to simplify regulations for small businesses and reinstate fair trade laws to give small businesses a better shot up against larger corporations. He wants employers to be able to sell company stock to employees tax-free while also making it easier for "the little guy" to become business owners. Reichert said he's also dedicated to tackling record-high inflation.
The map outline for Colorado's 7th Congressional district was redrawn after the 2020 census. Ballotpedia noted incumbent Democrat Rep. Ed Perlmutter has decided against running again. In the Republican primary, scheduled for June 28, Reichert faces Erik Aadland and Laurel Imer.
CPR News reported the 7th District seat has been historically held by a Democrat, but with the new district lines, Republicans could stand a shot at winning the seat. CPR called Reichert the candidate for the middle class. Based on his plans for the economy, he's also received support from business owners in the form of endorsements.
