Log Cabin Colorado Republicans are pointing to what they see as Democrat and media anti GOP-rhetoric as contributing to attacks that recently included the murder of a North Dakota teen and the vandalism of a Colorado GOP office.
“This is not OK,” the group recently posted on Twitter. “Yesterday a teen was killed in North Dakota for being a Republican. Today in Colorado a GOP office was vandalized. The villainizing and dehumanizing rhetoric from the regime in power and the media is having a dangerous effect on our society.”
In Larimer County, KDVR reported the GOP headquarters in Fort Collins was vandalized, with repairs totaling as much as $2,500 to fix destruction including glass strewn across an inside table and damage to the office front door, as reported by staff.
“I hate that the country is so polarized,” Larimer County Republican Party Chairman Ron Weinberg told KDVR.
In North Dakota, MontanaTalks.com said 41-year-old Shannon Brandt is suspected of killing an 18-year-old North Dakotan with his car because of the teen's Republican views. Brandt has since been released on bail.
Earlier this year at the Democratic National Committee reception, President Joe Biden delivered a speech where he said so-called "MAGA Republicans" have "chosen to go backwards, full of anger, violence, hate and division. And that's what their game is.”
On their website, the Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) hail themselves as an organization of pro-LGBT conservatives, with Colorado LCR chapter touting itself as a group working to promote legislation that supports equal rights and America First policies.
