ADA Basics for Employers- Helping employers, hiring managers, and other professionals understand the basics of the American Disabilities Act (ADA) to empower employers in their hiring decisions. This presentation will cover the importance of ADA, Employer Need-To-Know information, and dives beyond the basics to cover ADA rules on other topics such as service animals, remodeling of spaces and assistive technology.

About Our Speaker:

My name is Renee Romero, I am a Business Outreach Specialist with the State of Colorado, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). I am a Denver native and received my Bachelor of Science in Human Services with a concentration in Domestic Violence Counseling from MSU.

I have 10+ years’ experience in the Criminal Justice field with a specialty of reintegration support for women who released from Department of Correction and direct sentence cases from various counties in Colorado. I have adapted my skillset to further support individuals with disability to overcome common barriers with regards to employment and dispel the common myths about hiring individuals with disability in the workplace.

DVR believes that all people with disabilities can choose a career path that leads to meaningful employment and independent living. Within DVR, the Business Relations Unit provides services to employers by building long-term relationships based on their business needs, through recruitment, retention, education, and partnership.
