WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper released the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in favor of businesses discriminating against LGBTQ+ individuals in the 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis case:
“We’ve been here. We’ve settled this. In Colorado, and across the country, you cannot discriminate against someone solely because of who they are or who they love. Period.
“Today’s out of touch ruling will leave our friends, family, and neighbors in the LGBTQ+ community with fewer protections  just as hate speech toward them reaches a fever pitch.
“This court is taking away rights that generations of Americans have enjoyed. We have fewer rights today than we did just years ago. As Justice Sotomayor so rightly points out, today the Supreme Court of the United States has issued a ‘new license’ to discriminate.”
