Ahead of the Colorado General Assembly's special session on property taxes, NFIB State Director Tony Gagliardi urged lawmakers to promptly approve a compromise agreement. The deal is intended to address rising property taxes and business costs, which are causing concern among small business owners in the state.
Gagliardi emphasized the need for predictability in Colorado's property tax system. He stated that "between rising property taxes and soaring business costs, there is enough uncertainty to keep small business owners awake at night." The compromise agreement involves Governor Polis, Sen. Barbara Kirkmeyer, Sen. Chris Hansen, Rep. Julie McCluski, Rep. Rose Pugliese, and the business community.
According to Gagliardi, this agreement "cuts taxes and imposes strong caps on property tax growth," marking it as an essential step towards controlling Colorado's property taxes. He concluded by urging lawmakers: "On behalf of small business owners across the state, I ask lawmakers to swiftly approve the measure and send it to the Governor’s desk for signature."
