Motorists traveling on US Highway 550 between Purgatory Ski Resort and Silverton should expect significant delays on Friday, Oct. 10, due to the delivery of modular housing units to Silverton. The Colorado Department of Transportation has announced that the transport operation will require two full road closures. The first closure will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and the second will occur from 3:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Both closures will affect traffic in both directions between Mile Points 49 and 70.

The closures are intended to ensure the safe movement of the large modular units along the highway. Motorists are advised to plan their travel to avoid these times.

“Motorists will be stopped in both directions and are encouraged to schedule travel around the morning and afternoon closure periods,” according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

These temporary closures are part of an effort to facilitate housing delivery to the Town of Silverton.
