The Vasquez Boulevard Improvements Project completed a key phase in late February with the reopening of East 62nd Avenue between Vasquez Boulevard and Parkway Avenue, according to a March 16 announcement. The roadway is now open to through traffic, and businesses can be accessed from East 62nd Avenue.

Westbound traffic from East 62nd Avenue currently has access only to northbound Colorado Highway 2 until the median along Vasquez Boulevard is finished in summer 2026. Meanwhile, eastbound travelers have full access through the area. The on and off ramps connecting Vasquez Boulevard and Colorado Highway 2 near East 63rd Avenue are also complete, with the right turn from northbound CO 2 onto eastbound East 63rd Avenue reopened.

With this milestone reached, crews will begin work on improvements in the Vasquez Boulevard median starting March 16. This next phase will focus on installing a median, curb and gutter work, guardrail installation, and preparation for new turn and acceleration lanes between East 60th and East 64th avenues. Construction will take place behind barriers with minimal impact to drivers; all lanes on Vasquez Boulevard will remain open but may be slightly realigned during this period. Completion of this segment is expected by summer of next year.
