Trump campaign attorney Jenna Ellis recently spoke out in a hearing on elections integrity.
The hearing was called by a collective of 21 representatives who said they were fielding calls from constituents requesting an audit of the state’s election systems.
“If you genuinely do have nothing to hide and this committee is surely concerned about protecting the integrity of the vote in Colorado, then it is incumbent upon this body to investigate,” Ellis said.
Coloradans purportedly alleged the Secretary of State’s Office made a coordinated effort to improperly distribute registration postcards and that fears of ballot harvesting and outdated voter rolls from past elections were still in use.
Ellis challenged state Sen. Rhonda Fields (D-Aurora) who called the hearing a “waste of time.”
“We don’t know if it’s happening in Colorado. Wouldn’t you like to find out?” Ellis said.
However, those who called the hearing fell short of alleging any widespread fraud in the state.
State Sen. Paul Lundeen (R-Monument) requested an audit, saying the results would help put away voter fears.
“It’s about elections’ future and it’s about ensuring that Coloradans at home have peace of mind knowing that elections in Colorado are safe, secure and fair,” he said.
State Rep. Lori Saine (R-Firestone), a committee chair, said the hearing was necessary to assuage voter distrust.
“It is our duty as elected representatives of the people to rest any doubt the public may have concerning our election integrity,” she said.
