University of Northern Colorado recently issued the following announcement.
California Baptist University saw 87 student-athletes from fall and winter sports earn 2021-22 Academic All-Western Athletic Conference honors on Thursday.
In order to qualify for the honor, each student-athlete must have completed at least one full academic year at the school, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or better and have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
The Lancers were not far off top-three standing in the WAC when it came to all-academic qualifiers, despite not offering indoor track and field. Grand Canyon led the way with 103 honorees, while Utah Valley was in second (97) and Seattle U in third (93).
CBU was led by its swim/dive teams, as the women produced 18 and the men 15. Women's and men's soccer also eclipsed double-digit qualifiers with 16 and 10, respectively.
Reed Nottage and Ty Rowell secured the honor for men's basketball. For women's basketball, Nicole Avila-Ambrosi, Georgia Dale, Caitlyn Harper, Ane Olaeta, Sydney Palma and Dorcas Wu made the list.
Cross country had seven men named: Ivo Balabanov, Cameron Hylton, Zlatko Kozuhar, Florian Le Pallec, Giedrius Valincius, Rikus Van Niekerk and Roman Zozulia. The women had Paige Haynes, Greta Karinauskaite, Nadia Martinez, Anna Mate, Emilie Renaud and Anneken Viljoen make the grade.
Men's soccer was represented by Lincoln Aquino, Antonio Gomez, Brian Gonzalez, Chris Heckenberg, Bryan Iliohan, Jordan Lane, Liad Mordechi, Luis Mueller, Gage Rogers and Tete Vacas.
The 16 Lancers from women's soccer were Amy Aquino, Gracie Bowers, Vanessa Evans, Erin Gallagher, Danielle Gordon, Ashley Humphrey, Cora Jacoby, Devyn Kelsey, Faith Lee, Jayden Ramirez, McKenna Ray, Romy Salvador, Madison Sonerholm, Taylor Summit, Karley Weeks and Deniah Wells.
Men's swim/dive saw Miguel Arroyo Garcia, Hunter Harbauer, Evan Honer, Jacob Leahy, Christian Meyer, Robert Moseley, Matthew Niculae, Paul Rasoumoff, Simeon Rickenberger, Brandon Schuster, Tyler Stevens, John Sullivan, Scott Tolman, Trevor Van Law and Josh Walters on the list.
The 18 student-athletes from women's swim/dive were Martha Aguilar, Lydia Bartlett, Faith Brazil, Mallory Brubaker, Lillian Choi, Nicole Cienega, Mackenzie Degn, Felicity Holdsworth, Hannah Houlton, Vianka Hoyer, Madison Liu, Kiree Lowe, Mia Maspers, Lauren McKenna, Alexa Melara, Rebeca Oviedo, Isabella Rhodes and Buse Topcu.
CBU volleyball had Jennifer Blessing, Cassidy Dennison, Christine Graf, Paige Johnstone, Ashlyn Nevrla, Tesa Oaks and Hana Okuhara qualify for the honor.
