DiMaio, Erickson to Play In USILA Senior All-Star Game

Colorado College Athletics recently issued the following announcement.

Defender Sam DiMaio and attackman Anders Erickson are set to join an exclusive list of Colorado College men's lacrosse players when they participate in the 75th Annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Senior All-Star Game.

DiMaio and Erickson are two of 22 players named to the South roster for the contest which begins at 5 p.m. ET at Providence College in Providence, R.I.

DiMaio, the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team all-league selection, recorded career highs of 45 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers.

At the other end of the field, Erickson led the Tigers with 51 points and 27 assists, and was third with 24 goals. He too was a first-team all-HCLC selection.

DiMaio and Erickson will become the 12th and 13th Tigers to participate in the event, joining Paul Stayo (1984), Tom Sulger (1985), Frank Smith (1991), John Gottenfield (1992), Ted Nusbaum (1994), Jesse Yuran (1995), Jim Repenning (1996), Andrew DeNatale (1999), Zach Hoisington (2011), Ian Coughlan (2012) and Henri Halle (2015). It marks the first time in the history of the event that two Tigers will play in the game.

John Carroll Head Coach Joe Rautenstrauch will guide the South squad, while Western New England's John Klepacki will serve as head coach of the North squad, while. Each coach was responsible for selecting his respective team.

The North/South Game originated in 1940 and traditionally had been played at Municipal Stadium in Baltimore, Md. In addition to the Division III contest, Friday's doubleheader at Providence features a Division I/II game starting at 7:30 p.m. ET.
