Rev. Greg Boyle, S.J.,founder of Homeboy Industries, to speak at Regis University

New York Times-bestselling author and Jesuit priest returns to Denver partnering with local non-profit Fully Liberated Youth to talk with students, faculty and staff

The beloved Rev. Greg Boyle, S.J., founder of Homeboy Industries, returns to Regis University to speak on Friday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. in the St. John Francis Regis Chapel. Father Boyle will speak with students, faculty, staff and community members.

Rev. Boyle has previously spoken on campus and was a commencement speaker in spring of 2017. In 1988, Rev. Boyle started Homeboy Industries as a way of improving the lives of former gang members. The organization based in Los Angeles has evolved into the largest gang intervention, rehab and re-entry program in the world.

His 2010 New York Times bestselling book, Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion, was a previous Regis first-year experience required read for students. The book detailed the experience Rev. Boyle had with some of the gang members he worked with to help turn their lives around.

“Rev. Boyle is a huge part of the Jesuit community and is loved by many here in Denver. We’re thrilled to partner with Fully Liberated Youth to bring him back here,” said Kristi Gonsalves-McCabe, Parent and Family Liaison for Regis. “Rev. Boyle’s work has had an enormous impact and influence on many of our students over the years. He truly embodies the mission of our core values at Regis.”

Regis is partnering with a local non-profit, Fully Liberated Youth, to bring Rev. Boyle back to campus. Fully Liberated Youth is an organization that aims to holistically resource and empower young people who are experiencing oppression, trauma, gang-involvement or system-involvement so they can continue becoming the liberated individuals our communities need.

The event is free to students and the community with a suggested donation to Fully Liberated Youth. Register for the event at: https://fullyliberatedyouth.org.
