FOIA Request to Colorado Secretary of State Election Department Regarding Spring Elections Candidates for Office on February 5, 2025.

We at Centennial State News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, have formally requested records under the Colorado Open Records Act § 24-72-201 et seq. The request specifically seeks information about all candidates running in the upcoming spring elections.

The details requested include the first, middle, and last names of each candidate, the office they are running for, and their party affiliation. Additionally, we've asked for specific information about the jurisdiction of each office.

To ensure thorough reporting and transparency, we've also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As members of the media committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, we believe access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we've stated our eligibility for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the Colorado Secretary of State Election Department and will continue to strive towards comprehensive reporting on local governmental affairs.
